It’s a beautiful, sunny day here in Hampshire and strangely, as I think about what to write about for this month’s blog post, my thoughts turn to Winter Weddings!
So for this month’s Blog, I’ve put together some advice on winter weddings…
Top 5 things to consider for a winter wedding…
Christmas music or not? You may be thinking that it’s your wedding and you don’t want any Christmassy music at all, but, in my experience, you’re going to need to compromise. Your guests, whilst being there to celebrate your wedding, will also be in the Christmas mood and will expect a few of the Christmas classic tunes. There are some great tunes that can be played during the wedding breakfast, carols during the cocktails and some lively tunes for dancing later!
Photos – Your photographer is going to be limited on daylight time due to the shorter days. Discuss with him/her in advance and make a schedule of when you’re going to make yourself available for photos.
The weather – some winter weddings have glorious sunshine and can be quite warm, some not so. Have a plan B. Don’t fret about the weather (you can’t change it!), but be ready in case it snows, rains, hails or is a beautiful sunny day. Snow can create that wonderful winter wonderland looking amazing in photos, but can also create it’s own problems, especially with transport.
Flowers – Keep it seasonal to get the best flowers at the best prices. There are some great winter flowers and foliage you can use. Ask your florist for advice, they’ll be only too pleased to help and guide you.
Embrace it! You could use the winter to theme your wedding… Your favourite carols or ski resorts for table names, reds in your colour scheme, a special winter cocktail, crackers for favours, mince pies with your coffee…
One other thought… don’t forget it’s “party season” and lots of DJs will be booked up in advance for Christmas events! Don’t leave it too late…
For lots more ideas to make your winter wedding you, let’s arrange an appointment to meet up and discuss your wedding…
One of my many reviews from clients:
Alan was Master of Ceremonies and DJ at our New Year’s Eve wedding and was absolutely fantastic! Our wedding would not have been the same without him. His DJ Set was brilliant and really got the party going. However, not only did Alan and his son ensure that the day ran smoothly, but his support and advice throughout our wedding planning process were invaluable.
If we were to do it all again, one of the first things I would do is hire Alan, and I’d recommend anyone else planning a wedding to do the same. Not only will you end up with a brilliant DJ and MC, but you will have someone who can help guide you through the process and put together a great wedding!
